Montana Common Core Standards
We heard from some school leaders that they are being asked about the Common Core Standards (MTCCS) in Montana. Some of these calls have been in opposition to the MTCCS and others have been general questions. The OPI has also been receiving similar calls and recently there was testimony provided to legislative committees that opposed the MTCCS and state funding for local schools toward the implementation of these standards.
The OPI has prepared two documents that may be of assistance to you in answering questions you may receive. The first is a white paper titled: Myths and Facts about the Montana Common Core Standards. The second document is a sample message for constituents.
